Autocad

Autocad is a computer software application for 2D and 3D design and drafting. Autocad developed by Autodesk . Its first version released in December 1982. Autocad was the first cad program to run on personal computer.

Meaning of cad.

C  = computer
A = aided
D = designing/drafting

Uses of Autocad

Autocad is a computer aided design program used by just about every engineering and design office in the word.

Drawing area

⇨The large area in center of screen is called drawing area of autocad.

⇨The drawing area size can be changed any time with limits.

⇨ You have both colour of drawing area.

Cross hair/curser

⇨ Use to locate points, make selections and draw any object

⇨ The movement of curser controller by the movement of mouse

Units

Specifies the display format and precision. This command dictates whether the units are displayed as decimals or as a fraction, as well as how many decimals places the number will go.

How to set units?


  Set the drawing Units as follows:
1. Type UNITS <enter>
2. Change the Type and Precision as shown
3. Change Units according to need.
4. Press ok
